Course Overview
Jenn: Asks Kari to tell a story about her husband’s eye color
Kari Cody and I have been best friends for 5 years. I always wanted my husband to have green eyes and Cody has hazy-brown. While he was pursuing me, he had green eyes! Apparently, eye change color if they’re exposed to the sun.
Jenn: Asks Cody to talk about how the Lord told him he would get married sooner than he thought
Cody: Lord told me to start saving for a ring because when it happened, you’re going to want it to be fast. 3 months into dating we knew we’d get married. We’d been friends for about 5 years. We had the yes from all of our friends and family and thankfully I was able to get her a nice ring.
Brian: What have you all been up to this past year?
Kari: Married a year and a half. Sister and I were pregnant at the same time and at 7 months pregnant she lost her baby. Walking through that I am glad for the Holy Spirit and how He walked me through celebrating something in my own life while grieving with my sister in her process
Jenn: Talk about how you’d feel a lot of things as a little girl and what you learned to do with that.
Kari: As a child, my Dad told me that hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit get easier as you talk with Him and learn His voice. I would walk into a room and discern things and feel things and it could make me moody. So mom taught me that I was picking up on something and you need to ask God what to do with it instead of succumbing to it.
Cody: Fondest memories of learning to hear God’s voice were my teenage years. I remember God speaking to me as a kind Father. He would tell me I was on the right track and that he was proud of me.
Brian: What makes you come alive?
Cody: I love watching someone’s eyes light up when they are in the presence of God. Hobby-wise, I love movies. I love the creative side of movies, the story-telling aspect of it makes me come alive.
Kari: Massages. I love really good food. I love people and giving gifts and watching them light up. I’m thankful for Cody. I’m glad I waited for the right one.
Brian: What are you guys dreaming about right now?
Kari: We are working on a new project so we are just writing. I love the writing season. I love getting God’s heart for people
Brian: Is anything on your heart? Anything God is speaking to you?
Kari: In the midst of incredible pain I feel like the enemy just tries to steal our worship. If the enemy can steal our worship, he can steal the weapons we have. God does turn our ashes into our beauty.
Jenn: Talk about the importance of community:
Cody: It feels amazing to have people supporting you and seeing things that the lord might be doing in your world. Knowing that they see where your blind spots are is encouraging.
Kari: It makes you feel more peaceful when people who fully know you are calling things out in you versus people who don’t fully know you. My leadership knows where we are. Accountability and vulnerability are hard but worth it. God knows what we need and He puts us in families. Plant somewhere. Let the roots go down deep. If you feel called to something great, if it’s too big it’s probably God, God will bring the right people into your life who will help sustain you.
