A New Thing

Christine talks about the anointing verses gifts and talents. She gives the challenge to catch the new thing God is doing by wresting with Him to be able to perceive it. She challenges us to look beyond what has worked for us in the past and find God’s perspective.

A New Thing

Christine Cain

  • God says “I am doing a new thing.”
  • Just like in Act 2, God is asking us to hear what no one else is hearing, see what no one else is seeing, and to say what no one else is saying to prophetically bring forth life into our world.
  • What is our assignment at this time in history and in this place, and what is it that God is doing?
  • God says, “I’m not asking my church to look back at what I did, I asking them to look forward at what I am doing.”

The next thing is about us but the new thing is about God

  • Many of us want God to do the same old thing and we can’t perceive the new thing that He is doing.
  • We are looking for the next thing because we want to be the next thing but if we’d wrestle with God we would seek the NEW thing:
  • The new thing means you’re wrestling with God, but looking for the next thing means you’re comparing, you’re competing, you’re self-absorbed and you’re self-obsessed

  • The church needs to wrestle with God to get the new thing!

We have to ask, “What is it that God has anointed?” Not, “What is it that God has gifted?”

  • It’s the anointing that breaks the yolks and the chains, not the gifts. We have churches that have no power because they have gifted ones instead of anointed ones in power.
  • We do not need gifted worship leaders we need anointed worship leaders that are going to change a generation.
  • IF THE SPOTLIGHT THAT IS ON YOU IS GREATER THAN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST THAT IS WITHIN YOU, IT WILL DESTROY YOU.
  • God says, “ I am drawing you together, creating a church that is flexible and not rigid, a CHURCH THAT UNITES AND DOES NOT POLARIZE!” It not “either-or” its “both-and.” It’s not the next thing, it’s the new thing; and it’s not about me, it’s about Jesus.
  • Do nothing out selfish ambition or vain conceit, looking for the next thing or looking to be the next thing.
  • It’s about building the kingdom of God here on Earth.
