Sustainability

Melissa Helser

Sustainability: the ability to be used without getting used up

Love has to drive your daily rhythms of loving Jesus

DUTY cannot drive your love for God

The Goal of sustainability has to be a changed mindset

When we see ourselves as valuable, we make powerful choices; choices to step out of selfishness and love beyond ourselves.

Sustainability at its core sees the micro and it sees the macro. It sees "purpose" and is driven by delight and love.

God wants to change our mindsets and woo us into a place by delight.

Religious duty will only take you so far.

3 keys to stay centered and live a sustainable life:

1)  Knowing your need for the Holy Spirit

  • So often we create theology out of our experiences

  • The crescendo of the cross is receiving the Holy Spirit

  • You have to know friend Holy Spirit

2) Living a lifestyle of thanksgiving

  • Shifts your mindset

3) Brings you before the throne room of God and in that place, you live in the atmosphere of worship all the time

  • You need to be marked by the father’s delight

  • You need to become OBSESSED with the nature of God

  • You need to know how He feels about you
