When I produced my first album in 1999, the journey of the songs in the album’s preproduction stage became my favorite part of the recording process. Pouring over lyrics, helping songwriters get through writer’s blocks, refining lyrics and melodies, pushing them to write the most honest songs possible, etc. Fourteen Years later, it remains even more paramount in my work as a producer than ever before.
